| Abstract: | With its high angular resolution and sensitivity to PAH emission, WISE 12 micron provides the most detailed full-sky map of interstellar dust. We are engaged in a long-term project to map dust properties in 2D and 3D using IR emission maps and stellar photometry. Our largest photometric sample from Pan-STARRS contains nearly 1 billion stars, and their reddening yields a 60 million voxel 3D dust map. However, our fit becomes unstable when the distribution of dust in an angular pixel is too non-uniform. A higher angular-resolution 2D map from WISE can provide a spatial prior, stabilizing the 3D fit. I will describe the current status of our project, and show what we can learn by including WISE data in our Pan-STARRS 3D dust fit. |
