| Abstract: | The AllWISE catalog contains within it untold numbers of Galactic streams and substructures. One way of tracing such features is by detecting and mapping the distribution of RR Lyrae. Luminous and highly variable, these mile markers of the Galaxy can be detected in the AllWISE catalog to large distances. The steep infrared period-luminosity relation then yields distances accurate to ~2%. We describe an ongoing effort to detect and identify RR Lyrae in the AllWISE catalog, with the goal of mapping their three dimensional distribution out to 30 kpc. |
