Abstract: | Using the motion information present in the AllWISE Data Release, we have published a list of thousands of motion discoveries (Kirkpatrick et al. 2014), and these have been used to, among other topics, uncover hints of a temperature gap between low-mass stars and high-mass brown dwarfs at old ages (low metallicity). Continuing with the AllWISE Data Release, we have begun a second iteration of the motion search (``AllWISE2") and seek to identify ~40,000 additional motion stars not captured by the criteria used in Kirkpatrick et al. (2014). By identifying more low-metallicity low-mass stars and brown dwarfs, we will be able to define the lower edge of the hydrogen-burning sequence as a function of metallicity and in doing so, empirically test brown dwarf cooling theory. |
