| Abstract: | Quasars are now thought to have made critical impact on galaxy formation. Yet despite many years of observational efforts, the demographics of quasars -- in particular, the evolutionary role of quasar obscuration and the fraction of obscured quasars -- continue to be poorly understood. Thanks to its unprecedented combination of sensitivity, sky coverage and wavelength coverage, WISE is making important contributions to quasar studies. I will review infrared selection methods of quasars, discuss the demographics of quasars emerging from WISE and highlight some of the unusual quasar discoveries. |
